IT Manager

Our Client is a dynamic, technology-oriented company engaged in the development and operation of electronic trading systems for its proprietary hedge fund trading operation.  Founded in 1998, they are responsible for a significant share of the daily volume traded in the global financial markets and represents an established presence in the high frequency electronic trading field.

 

Summary:

 

To support our continued growth they are looking for an experienced IT Manager.  The ideal candidate will be asked to draw upon their strong technology acumen to help define and implement the company’s IT strategy.  The position will focus on building infrastructure to support an established business as well as the expansion of the company’s trading into additional markets and exchanges.  Your time will be divided between IT planning and the technical support of research, software development and operations systems.  This is a ‘hands on’ position with the opportunities to leverage bleeding-edge technology and make a significant contribution to the company’s success.


You will be responsible for leading the design, implementation and maintenance of the company's i) Network, ii) Operating Systems, iii) Market Connectivity, iv) Enterprise Services, v) Security, and vi) Datacenter and Co-locations.  This will include:

 

§        Manage, maintain and extend a world-class, global trading network

§        Support a state-of-the-science proprietary trading environment, including but not limited to servers, data storage and low-latency network infrastructure

§        Manage and extend a comprehensive, 100 terabyte sized data infrastructure

§        Drive and manage mission critical, highly technical, time sensitive projects

§        Work within a cross-functional team to research system enhancements and deploy systems to new markets

§        Manage a complex network of vendors, ensure contract compliance and expedition of purchases

§        Recruit and manage top-notch talent, exhibit and encourage professionalism and accountability

§        Develop, execute and manage a comprehensive employee certification program

 

Demonstrated experience of the following is required:

 

  • Network and system optimization of real-time market data feeds
  • Storage and data management policies and their implementation
  • Design and optimization of domestic and international exchange connectivity
  • Microsoft Enterprise technologies, including Windows and UNIX/LINUX system administration, Active Directory administration, Exchange Server, SQL Server and IIS
  • IP networking, including demonstrable understanding and technical knowledge of key concepts such as DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, firewall configuration and management
  • LAN/WAN design and implementation
  • Database systems management

 

Additionally, knowledge of the following areas is very desirable:

 

  • Financial extranets, real-time market data feeds and latency issues
  • ECNs, domestic and foreign exchanges
  • Business continuity planning
  • Power delivery and redundancy design for high-availability data centers

 

 

 

The successful candidate will also demonstrate experience in the following areas:

 

  • Effective management skills - of your own time as well as that of others
  • The ability to communicate emerging technology issues and applications to the business at all levels
  • Effective implementation and monitoring of change management procedures
  • Excellent documentation skills

 

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a computer science or related subject is required, Masters degree preferred
